Wow. What to hate most about this. 60 Minutes placing their logo over where the proud sponsors names were, next to the meter marks, is one reason. As an American, I'm embarrassed that not only are Americans totally unfamiliar with freediving, but that CBS felt it necessary to dumb down something as simple and wondrous as the history of freediving.
The depiction of the Dean's as a mysterious and dangerous place bothers me almost as much as the footage of Will with a shark swimming by and the narrator notes the shark, as if that should be considered dangerous.
This kind of mindless coverage perpetuates every misconception about the ocean and does nothing to further the preservation and respect for the ocean and the wonderful beings that live there. A six minute video of Yasemin Dalkilic freediving the Spiegel Grove would have presented more information - and with a much more appropriate tone.
